Refurbishment Phase 8

Mar

21

We are now moving in to the final main phase of the refurbishment, which focuses on a large part of the ground floor.

  • The large computer cluster (G70) and the accessible North Entrance will remain accessible during the works via a covered walkway going through the area being refurbished.
  • The North Basement (which currently holds parts of our main collection including some of our Science and English books) will be accessible via the first floor. It can be reached by using the large staircase at the front of the building (next to the book sorter) and follow signs.
  • Self issue units are temporarily located behind the Information Hub.
  • The drop box, used to return books when the Library is closed, will be unavailable during this phase of the works.
  • If you’re having difficulty locating any books please see our Shelfmarks page or ask Library staff.

To ensure the best possible working conditions for the start of the Summer term there will be an increased level of noise while essential work is carried out during the Easter vacation.

We know this is an important and busy time for many people and with the current works in the Library there are times when the building can be noisy and busy, so you may be interested some of the other study spaces available around campus, these include:

  • Essex House: Seats on ground floor next to the cafĂ©
  • Meeting House: Quiet Room
  • Fulton: Ground floor general purpose
  • Silverstone: Ground floor and Level 3
  • BSMS: Foyer area
  • As a last resort : Bramber House: Second floor foyer area, though may be noisy as there are drilling works.

We thank all users for your patience and understanding during these works. We wish to assure you we’re working hard to finish the refurbishment project as quickly as possible.
