{"id":84,"date":"2011-05-25T16:56:58","date_gmt":"2011-05-25T16:56:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.sussex.ac.uk\/arlt\/?p=84"},"modified":"2011-09-20T16:43:14","modified_gmt":"2011-09-20T16:43:14","slug":"creating-a-new-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.sussex.ac.uk\/arlt\/2011\/05\/25\/creating-a-new-list\/","title":{"rendered":"Creating a new list"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Creating a new Aspire reading list involves six steps:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Adding the course information<\/li>\n<li>Creating a structure for the reading list<\/li>\n<li>Adding bookmarked items to the list<\/li>\n<li>Marking the &#8216;importance&#8217; of each item and\u00a0 any additional study notes<\/li>\n<li>Publishing the list<\/li>\n<li>Sending the list to the Library<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>1.Add the course information<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Before you can start creating a new list, you need to be signed in to Aspire.\u00a0 Then select <strong>My Lists<\/strong> from the menu options and click on <strong>&#8216;Create a New List&#8217;<\/strong>.\u00a0 Complete the course information, adding the course title, course code and course tutor. Create a structure for the reading list<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a good idea to start by adding a structure to the list before you start adding items, although you can easily change this at a later date, if required.\u00a0 To add sections to the list, click on the cross-arrow icon, next to the <strong>&#8216;New Section&#8217;<\/strong> button, and drag the section box over to the list.\u00a0 Give the section a name and add any notes for students to guide their reading.\u00a0 If you have different themes within a week, you can add a new section within an existing section.\u00a0 Now you are ready to start adding bookmarked items to the list.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. See guidance on <strong>Bookmarking Articles<\/strong> and <strong>Bookmarking Books<\/strong> to add further items to <strong>My Bookmarks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Marking the Importance of each item and any additional study notes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Click on &#8216;<strong>Set Importance&#8217;<\/strong>, under the item title, and select an <em><strong>importance value<\/strong><\/em> from the four options:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Suggested for Student Purchase<\/li>\n<li>Essential<\/li>\n<li>Recommended<\/li>\n<li>Optional<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Marking the <em><strong>importance value<\/strong><\/em> of an item provides essential information to students about their reading and to the Library about purchase decisions.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.sussex.ac.uk\/arlt\/files\/2011\/05\/importance.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-115\" style=\"border: 1px solid grey\" title=\"importance\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sussex.ac.uk\/arlt\/files\/2011\/05\/importance-300x131.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"131\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.sussex.ac.uk\/arlt\/files\/2011\/05\/importance-300x131.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.sussex.ac.uk\/arlt\/files\/2011\/05\/importance-1024x449.png 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.sussex.ac.uk\/arlt\/files\/2011\/05\/importance.png 1261w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Publishing the list<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When the list is complete, click on <strong>&#8216;Publish<\/strong>&#8216; to make the list accessible to students.\u00a0 At this stage, the list can only be accessed from the Aspire search page.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6.
