{"id":2,"date":"2015-02-12T12:41:57","date_gmt":"2015-02-12T12:41:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.sussex.ac.uk\/jrustedlab\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2015-03-23T09:26:46","modified_gmt":"2015-03-23T09:26:46","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.sussex.ac.uk\/jrustedlab\/about\/","title":{"rendered":"About Jenny Rusted&#8217;s Lab Group"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"Apple-style-span\">With increasing age it is common to report a change in subjective cognitive experience, with mental abilities not appearing quite so \u2018sharp\u2019 as they were in youth.\u00a0 Our research is concerned with increasing understanding of the factors which effect how we age; whether an individual follows a trajectory of \u2018healthy\u2019 ageing or shows pathological change, leading to a diagnosis of dementia. Through knowledge of factors which change how we age, intervention strategies against cognitive decline may be developed. The research of this lab group places a strong focus on how genetic factors influence cognition, in particular across the domains of attention and memory.
