Professor Rusted is co-investigator on one of these projects,\u00a0a collaboration between\u00a0\u00a0Professor Linda Clare at Exeter University and\u00a0the universities of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sussex.ac.uk\/\">Sussex<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cardiff.ac.uk\/\">Cardiff<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.brunel.ac.uk\/\">Brunel<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bangor.ac.uk\/\">Bangor<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/\">Newcastle<\/a>\u00a0with\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kcl.ac.uk\/index.aspx\">King\u2019s College London<\/a>, the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lse.ac.uk\/\">London School of Economics<\/a>, the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rice.org.uk\/\">RICE centre<\/a>\u00a0in Bath and<a href=\"http:\/\/www.innovationsindementia.org.uk\/\">\u00a0Innovations in Dementia CIC<\/a>, focusing\u00a0on ways to measure and improve quality of life for people affected by dementia.\u00a0The grant will fund a second phase of the group\u2019s large-scale national study entitled Improving the Experience of Dementia and Enhancing an Active Life (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.idealproject.org.uk\/\">IDEAL<\/a>), which, since 2014, has been gathering an extensive database of information from\u00a0over 1500 people with dementia and 1300 carers, using questionnaires and interviews to understand the experiences of people with dementia as they move through from diagnosis to the later stages.\u00a0 The expansion of the study allows us to follow this large and diverse cohort over six years of progression, including the less-researched experiences of people from black and minority ethnic backgrounds and people in the advanced stages of dementia.
