The Festival provides a supportive and collaborative space to celebrate and share our experiences, research and reflections on teaching, learning and assessment here at Sussex.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We encourage all colleagues involved in education (in any capacity), to consider submitting a proposal. We also welcome co-presenting with students and have some student participation vouchers available.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year\u2019s festival has three themes and a variety of ways you can participate.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Themes&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The three themes for this year\u2019s festival can be interpreted broadly. We\u2019ve suggested some topics below to get you started, but please see these as suggestions rather than limitations:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Education for Progressive Futures&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Interdisciplinary teaching and learning&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Reimagining the ways we teach in changing educational landscapes&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Equipping students to make a difference&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Lifelong learning, employability and citizenship&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Digital literacy and skills&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Impacting Student Experience&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Building engaged learning communities&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Encouraging and listening to student voice&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Belonging and community building for diverse student populations&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Student mental health and wellbeing&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Designing and implementing impactful scholarship projects&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Transforming Assessment at Sussex&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Authentic assessment and assessment for learning&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Involving students in curriculum and assessment design&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Responding to, and evaluating generative AI&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Inclusive and accessible assessment for all learners&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Supporting students to develop agency in assessments and feedback&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2>Presentation formats&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are two presentation formats to choose from:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1: Work-in-progress lightning talks (7 minutes) providing short reflections on current practice or projects.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2: Longer presentations reflecting on outcomes of pedagogic developments, scholarship or research in your chosen area (15 minutes).&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No plans to present? Keep an eye on <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.sussex.ac.uk\/learning-matters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Learning Matters<\/a> for details of our innovation showcase- there may be other ways for you to get involved in Sussex Education Festival 2026. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>How to submit your proposal&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Please submit your proposal to our <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.office.com\/Pages\/ResponsePage.aspx?id=JOiIGLv-Z060Qy8zJhvH5Iu_bd7ZYvtBkErZor1eLAdUQVpITjI2TFBOMUQzMDYwNVdERE8wOVBNNS4u\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/forms.office.com\/Pages\/ResponsePage.aspx?id=JOiIGLv-Z060Qy8zJhvH5Iu_bd7ZYvtBkErZor1eLAdUQVpITjI2TFBOMUQzMDYwNVdERE8wOVBNNS4u\">Call for Participation form.<\/a> &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The deadline for submitting is 17:00 on Friday 6th March.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You should receive a response from the Education Festival Steering Group by 20<sup>th<\/sup> March.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If we haven\u2019t convinced you to submit a proposal yet, here is some feedback from presenters in previous years:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p><em>\u2018I wanted to write to say what a brilliant day I had on Friday! So many of the talks were inspiring, and the general atmosphere was great all day.\u2019<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p><p><em>\u2018It was a really rich and stimulating day of ideas and fascinating discussions.
