Recommender service to find articles relevant to your needs

The Library now has access to a recommender service called bX, which uses information gathered from usage data from subscribing institutions to suggest alternative resources when a user does a search.  It works along the same lines as Amazon’s suggestion of “People who bought this also looked at…” so, when you do a search, along with the results will come recommendations as to other articles you might like to read.  This means that it is almost as if your peers from your own or other comparable institutions are recommending resources that they’ve found useful.

  • The data is derived from actual usage data to generate recommendations based on article usage. The recommendations are focused on academic use, creating the automatic generation of user-led links to quality academic articles.
  • When an article is searched for, citations to other articles are displayed. These article citations are based on searches made by others doing similar searches.

Below is an example of the bX recommender service.

As with usual searches using “Find it at Sussex”, we may not have access to the full text article.
