JSTOR and pop-up blockers

Some users may be having problems downloading PDFs from JSTOR. This usually comes about because they’ve got pop-ups blocked on Google. For information about how to unblock your Google pop-ups, go to http://www.google.com/support/toolbar/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=9171

Nature backfiles

We  have increased our backfile coverage of Nature to include the years 1997 -2007. This means that we now have full access to the journal from 1869 to the current issue available through the Electronic Library.

FAME

Recently added to our online resources, FAME offers comprehensive information on companies in the UK and Ireland. It has a total coverage of 7 million companies, and allows the user to research individual companies, search for businesses with specific profiles, and to carry out detailed analysis.

Digimap improvements

Digimap Roam (released in October 2009) is replacing Classic as the standard mapping facility in Digimap OS Collection.  Key features of Roam include: 12 fixed scale map views, click-and-drag navigation or “slippy maps” and enhanced printing options enabling you to generate printable PDF maps in landscape or portrait and A4 or A3 size.

Four new titles from Duke University Press for 2010

The Library’s subscription to the 2010 e-Duke Journals Scholarly Collection: Expanded includes online access to 4 new journals: Comparative Literature, the Journal of Music Theory, Novel, andPhilosophical Review.

Science Direct and Scopus unavailable

Elsevier have announced that ScienceDirect and Scopus will be unavailable due to scheduled maintenance for approximately 12 hours from 1:00PM GMT Saturday, 23 January to 1:00AM GMT Sunday, 24 January

Times Literary Supplement Historical Archive

We now have access to expanded coverage of the Times Literary Supplement.  The TLS Historical Archive adds an additional 15 years to our previous access and now includes content from 1902 – 2005. The updated resource also offers a much improved search function including the ability to search the full-text of reviews.

Trial of African American Newspapers [now completed]
