Simon and myself are preparing ourselves for the big one next weekend!<\/p>\n
To remind you all, we are\u00a0 going to be part of the TrailTrekker <\/a>event walking a 100K route of the Yorkshire Dales.\u00a0 A route that must be completed within 30 hours or else!\u00a0 We’ve spent the last couple of months walking practically every weekend over the downs for at least 4 hours a pop.\u00a0\u00a0 A couple of weeks ago we walked 31 miles from Eastbourne to Ditchling which took us 13hrs and we were shattered – so God help us for the real thing!\u00a0 We felt like this was an accomplishent in itself, and my euphoria on completing it brought a tear to my eye and an overwhelming desire to hug Mr Topping and sob into his shoulder!\u00a0 Thankfully I was able to restrain myself and avoid an embarrassing situation for all concerned!<\/p>\n After this mammoth walk, we – Speckled Jim (our team name in honour of that plump and plucky First World War pigeon, lovingly raised by General Sir Anthony Cecil Hogmanay Melchett) – feel we are ready for the big one.<\/p>\n A big thanks to everyone who has sponsored us so far, your generosity as always has been immense.\u00a0 Anyone who would like to sponsor us can do so online here:<\/p>\n
