I am a research fellow of the Sackler Centre of Consciousness Science at the University of Sussex.

I am currently undertaking a study to see explore if training on a series of cognitive and perceptual tasks can improve a person’s short term memory and perception.

This experiment is different from the others you might be asked to participate in, as it involves many more hours of participation: You will be asked to carry out 4-5 interesting computer based cognitive and perceptual tasks for 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week for a period of 5 weeks. These tasks are designed to help improve certain aspects of your memory and perceptual performance and as such will require your full attention. The training tasks will be carried out online on your own computer and in your own time. Only one training session per week will be carried out in the Sackler Centres behavioural laboratory, Chichester 1, room 163.

However you will be reimbursed for any time involved in this experiment (at the equivalent rate of 5 pounds an hour).

The knowledge gained will be of general theoretical interest and may in the future be a promising new tool for vulnerable clinical groups to enhance general mental ability.

If you would be interested in taking part please reply to this email to arrange a time to come in for a chat about the study.
