So, Jessica and I had a great day at TEDx on Friday. Having been hooked by lots of inspiring online TED talks over the past year, it was exciting to be invited to hold a stand in the Ideas Lab and to hear some thought provoking speakers, that certainly didn’t disappoint!
Our stand was busy throughout, so we didn’t get to hear them all but the morning speakers set the scene for an enjoyable day. Highlights for me included, teaching science through dance, with the audience participating in a mass surgical procedure and hearing about an artists life changing experience, that led her to create site specific projects to produce similar human responses.
As ever, it was a good opportunity to talk to lots of people about Mass Observation, our upcoming events on ‘What is happiness?’ and of course the opening of The Keep!
Happiness is a subject that definitely got people talking, with much interest in the 1938 Bolton survey responses and what was coming through on our twitter feed to this question on the day.
Peoples experiences of happiness and what makes them unhappy, can be found throughout our archive and not always in the most obvious of places. My recent exploring has seen it covered in Food, Social Wellbeing, Your Home, You & Gardens, Animals & Humans and much more!
Keep letting us know what makes you happy on Twitter at hashtag #HappyMOA
