If these terms are not familiar to you and you would like to learn more, please see our <a title=\"Link\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sussex.ac.uk\/tel\/workshops#tandl\" target=\"_blank\">staff training programme<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We can help demystify new learning technologies for you and give you ideas on how to use these new and emerging tools in your teaching.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Delivered by US, designed by you<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Each of the workshops has been designed in response to feedback received from staff. All sessions are designed to contain a hands-on element to allow you to try technologies for yourself, rather than watch them being used. The TEL training sessions \u00a0are a risk free environment, you can&#8217;t break anything by pressing a wrong button!<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t worry if you haven\u2019t heard of some of these tools before, the workshops are introductions and so are suitable for both\u00a0those who are new to technologies and those who are more confident.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>New TEL workshops\u00a0<\/strong><b> <\/b><\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_1057\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.sussex.ac.uk\/tel\/files\/2014\/10\/Blog_podcasts.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1057\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1057 size-thumbnail\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sussex.ac.uk\/tel\/files\/2014\/10\/Blog_podcasts-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Blog_podcasts\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1057\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Try podcasting with TEL<\/p><\/div>\n<p>We have five new workshops to run alongside our popular standard workshops. Here is a list of the new training opportunities available to you;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a title=\"Link to workshops\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sussex.ac.uk\/tel\/workshops#tandl\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Interactive teaching with mobile devices<br \/>\n<\/b><\/a>This workshop will introduce three web-based applications (Poll Everywhere, Socrative, Padlet) that can take advantage of mobile devices to increase student engagement and interaction in large groups and seminars.<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Link\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sussex.ac.uk\/tel\/workshops#tandl\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Designing engaging visual presentations<br \/>\n<\/b><\/a>This workshop will introduce two different types of presentation tools (Prezi and NearPod) that academic staff can use to create more dynamic and interactive presentations.<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Link\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sussex.ac.uk\/tel\/workshops#tandl\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Introduction to Adobe Connect<br \/>\n<\/b><\/a>This interactive workshop introduces the leading web conferencing system. \u00a0Adobe Connect facilitates one-to-one or multiparty communication via the web and is an ideal solution for online meetings or tutorials.<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Link to page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sussex.ac.uk\/tel\/workshops#resources\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Creating screen- and pod- casts for more interactive resources <\/b><\/a><b><br \/>\n<\/b>This workshop session will introduce a number of free tools (including ScreenR and Vocaroo) that academic staff can use to record audio or video straight from their PC or laptop.<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Link\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sussex.ac.uk\/tel\/workshops#tandl\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Digital note-making and bookmarking tool<br \/>\n<\/b><\/a>This workshop will look into the best way teaching staff and researchers can use web-based tools and mobile apps (Evernote, Diigo and Pocket) to assist with their everyday workflow, organisation and productivity.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3><b>Workshop staples<br \/>\n<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>In addition to the above workshops, we will also be offering our <a title=\"Link\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sussex.ac.uk\/tel\/workshops#tandl\" target=\"_blank\">four standard workshops<\/a>, all of which will run throughout the academic year:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Introduction to Study Direct<\/li>\n<li>Creating and using Quizzes in Study Direct<\/li>\n<li>Introduction to e-submission and e-feedback<\/li>\n<li>Using lecture capture and media upload in your teaching<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you would like a training session that is specific and tailored to your school\/department, contact your school liaison learning technologist who will be happy to arrange this for you.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>How to book<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>To book your place, simply follow the link to the TEL training page and you will see under the course entry\u00a0 an invitation to book a place, for example, <em><a title=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/direct.sussex.ac.uk\/page.php?page=staff_development_booking_form&amp;trail=staff_development&amp;ac=1305\" target=\"_blank\">Book onto the Interactive teaching with mobile devices workshop here<\/a>. <\/em>Click on this and it will take you straight to the booking page and you simply click &#8216;Book now&#8217; to reserve your place.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Future courses<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>As a team, we are always on the lookout for new technologies and new ideas to use in teaching and learning.
