Mobile Technologies Week 17-21 November www.sussex.ac.uk\/library\/mtw<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n

The Library and Technology Enhanced Learning have come together to organise a week of exciting events for University of Sussex staff, students and researchers around the use of mobile technologies to support teaching and learning. Mobile Technologies Week<\/a> begins on Monday, 17th November.<\/p>\n

The programme aims to highlight the vast range of content and resources that can be created and consumed via mobile devices including smartphones, laptops, tablets and e-readers. \u00a0If you\u2019re new to the world of apps, e-books and iPads there\u2019ll be sessions to help you get started and expand your knowledge. \u00a0For those who are more mobile savvy why not try your hand at building a simple mobile app or learn how to produce and edit videos in a mobile environment.<\/p>\n

An academic strand runs throughout, with a particular focus on techniques for making teaching more interactive through tools such as Poll Everywhere<\/a> and enriching your online offering with Box of Broadcasts.<\/p>\n

Some of the workshops have been designed specifically for, and with the input of students, and have a focus on apps for academic skills and using the cloud to secure and back up work.<\/p>\n

The Research Hive Scholars are also getting involved and will be running an event around the topic of the \u2018Mobile Researcher\u2019.<\/p>\n

Seminar speaker – Professor Simon Lancaster (@S_J_Lancaster)<\/p><\/div>\n

Two not to be missed development opportunities include our first ever App Swap Breakfast and a SAGE Seminar on Thursday the 20th of November where Dr Sharif Mowlabocus<\/a>, Senior Lecturer in Digital Media will be talking about the use of Twitter in lectures while\u00a0National Teaching Fellow Professor Simon Lancaster<\/a> (University of East Anglia) will lead an interactive session on\u00a0\u201cUsing technology to facilitate more effective use of (teaching) time and space\u201d.<\/p>\n

Running in parallel with the various workshops and networking events there will be a chance to win prizes throughout the week via our daily Facebook challenges.
