When it comes to the iPad, we in\u00a0Sussex TEL usually write and publish blog posts concerning new and exciting apps, methods of recording video and ways of using the iPad in teaching and learning.<\/p>\n

However, we have recently realised that, whilst all these things are great and useful to many, we may have missed out the step of getting started with the iPad, which is where others may be.<\/p>\n

We hope that this blog post, coupled with the \u2018Getting started with your iPad<\/i><\/a>\u2019<\/i> workshop we are delivering on 27th March 2015, will reach anyone who has been left in iPad purgatory and needs a helping hand.

Back to Basics<\/h3>\n

Let\u2019s start from the very beginning. The diagram below shows a labelled diagram of an iPad Air (other versions of the iPad may differ from the this but generally they\u2019re similar).<\/p>\n

The main on\/off button is situated above the top right hand corner of the iPad (if you\u2019re holding the iPad so that the home button is at the bottom). As shown, the iPad itself has very few buttons as the main surface is touch screen.<\/p>\n

Once you have turned your iPad on, you can either put it on standby (sleep) by tapping this button, or turn it off completely by holding it down and swiping right on the display when prompted.<\/p>\n
