Cloud-based means that it lives on a server on the internet rather than on your computer.<\/p>\n<p>Prezi allows individuals or groups to work online to create \u2018Prezis\u2019 using a mix of text, graphic and multimedia content \u2018framed\u2019 onto to a scalable 3D canvas.<\/p>\n<p>The interface includes a zoom function which allows users to navigate through frames on the canvas which display using a variation of angles and levels of magnification.<\/p>\n<p>See the following &#8216;What is Prezi?&#8217;\u00a0<a title=\"What is Prezi?\" href=\"http:\/\/prezi.com\/6wqeiiehwq7s\/?utm_campaign=share&amp;utm_medium=copy&amp;rc=ex0share\" target=\"_blank\">presentation<\/a>\u00a0to view an example of Prezi and learn more about how it works.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h3><b>Is it free?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>If you have an email address at an educational institution, for example <a href=\"mailto:yourname@sussex.ac.uk\">yourname@sussex.ac.uk<\/a> then you can upgrade to a second level \u2018<a href=\"http:\/\/prezi.com\/pricing\/edu\/\">Edu Enjoy<\/a>\u2019 account for free.<\/p>\n<p>This will allow access to premium support services, 500mb of cloud storage space, the option to replace the Prezi logo with your own and to make your presentations private.<\/p>\n<h3><b>Will it work on my device?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>As Prezi is a cloud-based service it will work online from any computer or mobile device using a modern web-browser. A mobile app version which works both online and offline is also available for <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.prezi.android&amp;hl=en_GB\">Android<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/prezi.com\/iphone\/\">iPhone<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/prezi.com\/ipad\/\">iPad<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Presentations can be displayed onto a big screen by pairing your Android device with Chromecast or Apple device with Apple TV. \u00a0You can also <a href=\"https:\/\/prezi.com\/support\/article\/presenting\/presenting-a-prezi-remotely\/\">present remotely<\/a> from your device to a presentation computer or a combination of 30 devices and computers at a time, as well as presenting in the normal way through your web browser.<\/p>\n<h3><b>Ideas for using Prezi in learning and teaching<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Tutors and students can use it as a presentation tool to help visually explain theories and ideas with an abstract or concrete spatial relationship &#8211; for example, timelines, storyboards, mind-maps, data visualisation or geographic maps.<\/li>\n<li>You could also use it in the classroom with your students or classmates to create a mind-map or storyboard.<\/li>\n<li>Students could collaborate online in group activities to produce artefacts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>What are the alternatives?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>Microsoft\u2019s Powerpoint and Apple\u2019s KeyNote are two of the most widely used and established bits of software for presentations. Here are a few more alternatives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/nearpod.com\/\">Nearpod<\/a>: engage your students with interactive quizzes embedded in a slideshow presentation.
