Participation also demonstrates a commitment to enhancement of the student experience.<\/p>\n<p>In 2014\/15 the Scheme awarded six grants covering a range of developments from physical computing to gamification. Finding the switch to complete the circuit can be a challenge. You might be considering some techniques to invigorate your innovation.<\/p>\n<p>There are our old friends Brain Storming and Mind Mapping.<\/p>\n<p>If this appeals to you, there\u2019s the analogue solution of flip charts and post-its or alternatively there\u2019s software and apps available to help. Life hack provide a list of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lifehack.org\/articles\/technology\/15-best-brainstorming-and-mind-mapping-tech-tools-for-every-creative-mind.html\" target=\"_blank\">15 best brainstorming and mind mapping tech tools<\/a>.\u00a0 The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sussex.ac.uk\/its\/\" target=\"_blank\">IT Services <\/a>department at the University of Sussex also have several tools available to staff and students.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sussex.ac.uk\/its\/services\/software\/list?id=349\" target=\"_blank\">MindView<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/direct.sussex.ac.uk\/page.php?page=staff_development_booking_form&amp;trail=staff_development&amp;ac=1479\" target=\"_blank\">training courses for staff<\/a> running 6th and 16<sup>th<\/sup> November)<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sussex.ac.uk\/its\/services\/software\/list?id=57\" target=\"_blank\">Xmind<br \/>\n<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sussex.ac.uk\/its\/services\/software\/list?id=127\" target=\"_blank\">Freemind<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Brain Storming works on the premise that \u2018No idea is a bad idea\u2019 but let\u2019s face it we\u2019ve all had them.\u00a0 So what are the alternatives to invigorating your innovation?<\/p>\n<p>One way is to go it alone.\u00a0This might seem counter intuitive in this landscape of collaboration, cooperation and openness but the power of the individual should not be ignored.\u00a0Kevin Ashton explores this in his article <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wired.co.uk\/magazine\/archive\/2015\/03\/features\/you-are-a-genius\/page\/4\" target=\"_blank\">\u2018You are a genius\u2019<\/a> for Wired.co.uk.<\/p>\n<p>He reminds us that Steve Wozniak, Steve Jobs\u2019 cofounder at Apple and the inventor of its first computer, offered this advice:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWork alone. You\u2019re going to be best able to design revolutionary products and features if you\u2019re working on your own. Not on a committee.
