The ability to listen again to key points in a lecture and develop notes is a significant benefit of lecture capture. <\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The ability to review a lecture in their own time is particularly valuable to students who do not have English as their first language or have difficulty making notes whilst listening to the lecturer. Research into <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.it.ox.ac.uk\/lecture-capture\/2015\/09\/14\/worried-about-student-attendance\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">attendance at recorded lectures<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> bears out Janet\u2019s experience of good attendance with students using the recordings to supplement their learning rather than replace a face-to-face session.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In particular, Janet\u2019s students use the recordings to go back over challenging content. This ability to rewind and replay sections dealing with complex concepts means that lecturers can be more confident when addressing difficult material.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_6023\" style=\"font-weight: 400\">The lecture capture system in use at the University of Sussex is simple to use, with a <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sussex.ac.uk\/tel\/documents\/lecture-capture-sept-2013.docx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">photoguide<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> available in <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sussex.ac.uk\/its\/services\/teachingandlearning\/lecturecapture\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">teaching rooms that are lecture capture enabled<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.There is also a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/studydirect.sussex.ac.uk\/course\/view.php?id=12486&amp;faqid=2404\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">step-by-step guide to adding a recording to a Study Direct module site<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sussex staff who want help with using lecture capture
