This year\u2019s User Group focused on the theme of \u2018Increasing student engagement\u2019 and was attended by around 60 delegates from higher education institutions across the UK.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The morning featured four presentations from academics using Poll Everywhere at different universities around the UK. Speakers\u2019 presentations addressed a variety of different themes including gamification, engagement and feedback. This year\u2019s presenters were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Dr. Rosamond Watling, Regent\u2019s University &#8211; <em>Enabling and empowering students using open-ended questions. <\/em><\/li><li> Gustavo Espinoza-Ramos, University of Westminster &#8211; <em>From the transmission to the connectivism module of learning: The use of Poll Everywhere to promote student engagement in the digital age.<\/em><\/li><li> Agnes Grondin, Middlesex University London &#8211; <em>Revision Lectures revamped with Poll Everywhere Competitions.<\/em><\/li><li> Dr. Pete Smith, University of Liverpool &#8211; <em>Closing the Loop. <\/em> <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These presentations were then followed by a question and answer session with all of the speakers, giving them time to answer audience questions and discuss their experiences. During this session audience questions were collected using (of course!) a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polleverywhere.com\/support\/articles\/create-activities\/q_and_a\">Poll Everywhere Q&amp;A question<\/a> which was left running in the background during the presentations. As well as ongoing accessibility improvements, Poll Everywhere updates include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"A new presenter app (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.polleverywhere.com\/tablet-beta\" target=\"_blank\">A new presenter app<\/a><\/li><li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Activity flows (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.polleverywhere.com\/activity-flows-available\/\" target=\"_blank\">Activity flows<\/a><\/li><li>Competition updates e.g. remove question time limits to improve inclusivity<\/li><li>QR codes &#8211; students scan QR code as an alternative to typing out the response URL<\/li><li>Student can now export their response history<\/li><li><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Product roadmap from Brian <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/polleverywhere?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@polleverywhere<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/pollevuk?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#pollevuk<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ouG2clxh6F\">pic.twitter.com\/ouG2clxh6F<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Will Moindrot (@WMoindrot) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WMoindrot\/status\/1116326228892573696?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 11, 2019<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This was followed by a Poll Everywhere \u2018World Cafe\u2019, during which participants were invited to visit different tables and discuss various topics with colleagues.
