One of the most critical issues for the Brexit negotiations in relation to trade is whether the UK should remain in the EU Single Market. \u00a0The\u00a0Conservatives<\/span><\/a>\u00a0claim that the UK will no longer be members of its single market or its customs union by the end of a two-year transitional period, but at his party\u2019s conference,\u00a0Jeremy Corbyn<\/span><\/a>\u00a0said a\u00a0Labour\u00a0government<\/span><\/a>\u00a0would strike a deal with the\u00a0EU<\/span><\/a>\u00a0that “guarantees unimpeded access to the\u00a0single market<\/span><\/a>” after\u00a0Brexit<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

We have produced a short, animated video that explains what the Single Market is, how it works and the ways it effects trade, and thereby the economy. \u00a0This includes the role of the European Court of Justice. Ultimately, the video explains\u00a0<\/span>that there is a trade-off between making your laws independently and cooperating sufficiently to be a part of a bigger market and achieve higher incomes.<\/span><\/p>\n
