Welcome to the Observing the 1980s project blog. We are very excited to begin this sixteen month JISC-funded project to create an Open Educational Resource (OER) using material from the Mass Observation Archive at the University of Sussex and Oral History Collections at the British Library. We will be choosing and digitising content from both collections, selections of which will be built into an OER made available via the University’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and other OER sites, while the raw digitised data will also be available via suitable websites.
The key steps are:
- Identifying suitable content
- Ensuring permissions for use
- Digitising material
- Creating the OER
- Making the OER and raw data available
