How Dogs Hear Us – How you can help

We’re looking for participants in noninvasive, behavioural observation experiments with dogs and their owners.

We want to know how dogs understand our speech and voices, and what differences they respond to.

Each test only takes a few minutes to perform and helps us understand what the dogs are listening to in our voices.

We’re currently testing both in people’s homes and at the University of Sussex’s Falmer Campus. We have several tests and you can participate in as few or as many as you like.

We are currently looking for adult dogs with no hearing problems and no history of aggression to take part. Most of the dogs enjoy the process and the challenge we present them.

If you would like to learn more about what the studies involve or to participate in our tests, please contact Dr. Holly Root-Gutteridge at hr236@sussex.ac.uk
