Welcome to the Sussex Power Storm Webpage

We are a group of 4th Year MEng Students at the University of Sussex, for our final year project we are aiming to build and race a Wind Powered Vehicle (WPV).

The team has set its sights on competing for the second time in the Racing Aeolus competition in the summer of 2019. The race is one of the four largest sustainability races in the world. The competition requires us to build and race a wind powered vehicle. The competition is held in Den Helder, Holland. Teams of students participated from all over the world, including teams from Germany, Canada and Turkey. Last year we became the first British Mechanical team to compete placing 5th overall. The race comprises of a 500m drag race, with the aim to achieve the greatest possible speed when driving into the wind.
