Eight year olds « Everyday Childhoods

From this page you can explore individual case studies of each of the children involved in the Face 2 Face project. Aged between seven and eight, all of the children involved in this panel have been involved in research since before they were born as part of a longitudinal study on modern motherhood (more information about this project can be found here.)

Each research participant is represented here by a gallery image and by clicking on their individual image you can access an interactive multimedia document of a day in their life hosted on the interactive presentation platform Prezi. These documents are multimedia representations of ‘day in a life’ micro-ethnographies which involved researchers spending an ordinary day with each child and documenting their lives across home, school, leisure spaces etc. Each multimedia document combines sounds, photographs and videos, providing an interactive, visual and sonic representation of a day in each young person’s life. Under each image you can also access a link to an interactive multimedia document about the child’s ‘favourite things’. By clicking on individual objects in the child’s interactive home space you can hear them speak about individual toys and possessions.

Technical note: Prezi’s multimedia documents are viewable on most computer web browsers
with an up-to-date version of Flash. To access Prezi on an Apple iPhone or iPad you will need to download Prezi’s free app. Unfortunately no Prezi app is currently available for Android devices.

*The ‘day in a life’ multimedia document for this research participants is currently unavailable.
