Trailtrekker charity walk

Apr

6

Why hello there,

This June (4th and 5th of June to be precise) Adam Harwood and I, along with friends Iain and Jo are walking 100K (or 62.14 miles in old money) all in one go, in aid of Oxfam and the Gurkha Foundation.

If you can spare a tiny amount of money to sponsor us we would be incredible honoured and delighted.

We’re going to be part of the TrailTrekker event walking a 100K route of the Yorkshire Dales.  A route that must be completed within 30 hours or else!  Well, or else we will be lovingly ushered quietly, yet firmly, into a van by the Gurkhas who marshal the walk.  It would appear plodding for more than 30 hours is deemed potentially hazardous and likely to bring on all manner of hallucinogenic visions, incoherent banter and general weakness of limb and mind.  It is to be noted the Gurkhas place a team into this event who complete the course, in a not totally unimpressive, nine and a half to ten hours.

We have entered a team called “Speckled Jim” in honour of that plump and plucky First World War pigeon, lovingly raised by General Sir Anthony Cecil Hogmanay Melchett.  Eaten deliberately, callously and with beastnessly of forethought by the flanders pigeon murderer, Captain Edmund Blackadder.

You can sponsor us online here:

Or, for anyone who prefers to avoid technology, we will be placing a sponsorship sheet in the staff room.

And you can follow our trials and tribulations in training here:

Thanks ever so much
