While you know that your Microsoft Teams meeting security is already restricted to just the people in the Team or those you specifically invite there are a few extra steps you can take to maximise control of your virtual meeting room.
Use the Teams Meeting Options to add a Meeting lobby where attendees wait until they are approved by the meeting presenter. Limit who can record the meeting or share their screen and content by setting Who can present? to Only Me.
The Meeting Options link can be found at the bottom of your meeting invite for meetings booked within Teams or via the Outlook plugin. Further details are can be found on the Microsoft Roles in a Teams Meeting page.
If you haven’t already found it then give the Windows 10 Task View a look. Super quick to switch between all your open tasks, including people talking in a meeting, and then scroll down to see all the recent files. It remembers what you’ve edited for the last month across all applications!
There is also the facility to have different virtual desktops so you can have a different desktop for different work tasks or maybe create a work and personal desktop. More information on the Microsoft page for using multiple desktops
There may be times when you need to use your Outlook calendar to create a Zoom meeting on behalf of a colleague. While you want to create and manage the invitations, they will be the Zoom Meeting Host. Watch the short video below to find out how it is done (alternative link for video)
You may know about Canva – a website that helps you design great graphics for the web, social media or presentations. It’s much easier to use than bulky, fully-featured apps like Adobe, and it’s available, for free, to anybody. You just need to sign up for an account on the Canva website.
We’ve created this short LinkedIn Learning course about Canva, picking out the best videos we’ve found about making graphics using Canva. It’ll take you through templates, uploading your own images, manipulating images and it offers some design advice for different platforms.

Tasks is available as an app and as a tab in a channel. The app comprises both individual tasks from To Do and team tasks from Planner whereas the tab shows only team tasks. Further information available on the Microsoft using Tasks in Teams information page.

Box have released a “new, streamlined user experience to all Box users” including a tiled recently used items. The addition of Collections “allows users to intuitively organize their files, folders, and bookmarks into logical groupings of their choice, name these groupings to provide clear and meaningful context, and quickly find the content they need right now …” Working like playlists they allow you to group “links” to files and folders, making it easier to find items without moving them from their existing position.
