Bring Your Own Devices for Learning (BYOD4L)

Members of the Technology Enhanced Learning team will be helping to facilitate BYOD4L or ‘Bring Your Own Devices for Learning’, an open online learning event starting on Monday, July 14th and we would like to invite students and teaching staff at the university to join us.

What is BYOD4L?

BYOD4L is a free, open, and online learning opportunity which runs over 5 days. It is an excellent opportunity for students and teachers to explore the potential of mobile and smart devices (such as tablets, laptops and smartphones) for learning and teaching.

Each of the 5 days focuses on one of these topics:

    • Connecting
    • Communicating
    • Curating
    • Collaborating
    • Creating

BYOD4L bannerParticipants have the opportunity to connect, share and learn from others across the UK and around the world using social media. You will be able to join in with conversations on Twitter, Facebook or Googleplus as well as accessing resources and activities on the BYOD4L website. The flexible design of BYOD4L means that it is up to you whether you choose to engage with all of the topics and how much you immerse yourself in the online discussions.

As well as the online parts of BYOD4L we plan to offer a face-to-face session for participants from the University of Sussex. This will be led by members of the Technology Enhanced Learning team who are also facilitators on BYOD4L.

Other Institutions involved in BYOD4L include Manchester Metropolitan University, Sheffield Hallam University, University of Ulster and London Metropolitan University but participation is not limited to these universities and anyone is welcome to join in.

Join in BYOD4L?

If you are working or studying at the University of Sussex and would like to join in with BYOD4L please complete the initial survey so that we can get in touch with you and inform you about the local event.

There is no formal registration process – on 14th July just go to the start here page on the BYOD4L website
